SA reports over 3 000 new Covid-19 cases

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Saturday evening that 3 220 new coronavirus cases had been recorded since its previous report.

This represents a 9.2% positivity rate.
Gauteng remains the hotspot of the emerging fourth wave and accounts for 82% of the new cases.
The death toll has climbed to 89 791, with 8 new fatalities reported.
The latest vaccination statistics show that just over 34 000 doses had been administered over the past 24 hours.
