SA records over a thousand new Covid-19 cases

South Africa has
recorded 1 101 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases to 1 575
471.

The country currently has 20 138 active cases, at the beginning of the public school holiday that will stretch through this week.
In his latest report, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize confirms 23 more Covid-19 related deaths.
Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, and Northern Cape have zero fatalities.
In the Western Cape, there was one coronavirus related fatality, the Free State and Kwa-Zulu Natal recorded 4, and Gauteng and the Eastern Cape had 7 additional deaths each.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 54 148.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased,” adds Mkhize.
So far, 10 530 979 people have been tested for Covid-19.
The country’s recoveries stand at 1 501 185, representing 95%.
