SA records just over 500 new COVID-19 cases

The latest report by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, shows that 510 more people have tested positive for COVID-19.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases for South Africa to 1 538 961.
The report that was released on Tuesday evening, shows there were another 55 Covid-19 related deaths.
A total of 25 of the new fatalities were recorded in the North West, 11 in the Free State, the Eastern Cape reported another 6 deaths, KwaZulu-Natal 5, Gauteng and the Western Cape 4 and Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Northern Cape reported zero deaths in the last 24 hours.
South Africa’s death toll now stands at 52 251 deaths.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased,” says Mkhize.

The department has conducted 9 665 664 tests with 16 445 tests completed since the last report.
The recovery rate stands at 95% - with 1 465 204 people having recovered.
On the vaccine front, 194 257 health care workers have been jabbed with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
