The Post Office has this afternoon released a statement saying they have met with the CWU and have agreed on a process to resolve the outstanding labour issues.

SAPO CEO Mark Barnes says they need a month to raise capital.

"This is in order to address these issues with labour. And so, it is an agreement to, within a limited time frame, come back with a specific proposal," Barnes said.

The CWU's Thami Mzileni says they will be having a National Executive Committee meeting later today, also confirming that workers who'd been on strike will report for duty on Monday.

Today, about 400 post office workers  marched to the SAPO offices in the Durban city centre to hand over a memorandum to management.

"They are taking millions of rands and we are getting peanuts. I'm no happy with the situation and as workers, we are losing," one marching post office worker said.

"We've been working for so many years and we are [still] no permanent. They [told us] if you work for six months you will become a permanent employee," said another striking employee.

"we feel disgruntled, we feel sidelined and we are not being respected in terms of our job and we are deprived in terms of salary increments over the years," one worker told Newswatch.

In Johannesburg, members of the CWU  marched to the police station to open cases against those who were implicated in the public protector's report dubbed "Postponed Delivery".
