SA passes grim Covid-19 milestone

South Africa has passed the grim milestone of 90 000 Covid-19-related deaths.
Health
officials say 27 more people, diagnosed with the virus, lost their lives,
pushing our pandemic death toll to 90 002.
Over 13 000 new cases were picked up, which represent a 24.9% positivity rate.
A worrying development in the last 24-hour cycle is that KZN has recorded over 1 300 new infections in a single day. It's the first time the figure's breached the 1000 mark, since cases began rising again recently.

Active cases in the province have gone up to over 9 000. But Gauteng's bearing the brunt again, with more than 8 000 new infections registered.
Hospital admissions nationally, have jumped by almost 400, in both and private and public sectors.
The Health Department says on the positive front, the country's sitting with a recovery rate of 93%.
