SA now has less than 50 000 active cases of Covid-19

The number of active cases of Covid-10 in South Africa has dropped to under 50 000, with the country now out of the second wave.

Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize have shown that 48 855 Covid-19 cases are currently active.

The three provinces which have recorded the most active cases are KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape and the Free State.

As of Tuesday, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 1 494 119, an increase of 1 210 new cases.

A further 219 new deaths have been confirmed, bringing the total number of fatalities to 48 313.
