SA needs to 'tread carefully' to improve standard of living

The CEO of a consumer technology company says the country has to tread carefully in the months ahead if it wants to improve the standard of living in South Africa.
The latest data has indicated the basket sizes in several South African cities have shrunk as consumers adjust their budgets due the rising cost of food and other household goods.
A basket size refers to the number of products a customer buys per single transaction.
Adam Reilly of Maholla says it could get worse.
"Basket-sized trains in South Africa help us understand how consumers better by evaluating by how they spend their money on food items.
"With rolling black-outs destroying busnesss countrywide and fuel prices set to increase consumer are under a high degree of strain."
