SA 'must look beyond skin colour'
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Political analyst Aubrey Matshiqi has challenged South Africans to go back to their original identity of being human, instead of defining themselves through racial lenses.

Matshiqi earlier today led a discussion in Durban on the deconstruction of racial identity.
He believes post-apartheid democracy is unraveling in some ways, with old racial tensions re-emerging, and new ones being created.
Matshiqi says this calls for an urgent need to look beyond skin colour.
''You see people running towards narrow identities again, blackness and whiteness.
''You'll find Xhosa people in the Eastern Cape saying they are not Xhosa. They'll say they are Mpondo, or Mthembu etcetera.
''So people seem to be running back to their narrow identities,'' he said.
