SA looking for more power from Mozambique
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
Mozambique’s Mineral Resources and Energy minister is expected to meet with Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa in South Africa on Monday.

South Africa is hoping to procure more electricity from the neighbouring country.
Carlos Zacarias and Ramokgopa first met last month to discuss possible solutions to South Africa’s energy crisis.
Ramokgopa says Mozambique has already made 80 megawatts available to the country to help ease load shedding.
"The reason why we're doing this follow-up is because they [Mozambique] indicated that there's potential of this being a scale-up and they are coming to tell us whether it's possible to scale it up to more than 80megawatts.
"But the long and short of it is that its powership project is already generating a surplus], that's why it's immediately available," says Ramokgopa.
Cabinet has welcomed the deliberations between Ramokgopa and Zacarias to support South Africa's national grid.
"Cabinet continues to urge South Africans to support the Winter Demand Management campaign launched by the Minister of Electricity to save electricity and reduce the strain on the national grid, and help lower load shedding stages this winter,” said Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni.
