SA Grammy winners touch down at OR Tambo
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
South Africa's Grammy-winning trio arrived home to a hero's welcome.
Durban singers Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode and Joburg flautist and composer Wouter Kellerman were greeted with roaring applause and cheers after landing at OR Tambo International Airport on Friday morning.
The Bayethe hitmakers scooped the prize for Best Global Music Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, United States.
The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture hosted a welcome reception for them at the airport.
Bantwini says there are many opportunities for South African artists, but they need more assistance from the government.
"This goes without saying that we are a country of possibilities and opportunities."
The artist from KwaMashu had a message for up-and-coming musicians.
"If you thought that dreaming was a waste of time, look at Zakes Bantwini. Dreaming is never a waste of time. Every dream is valid."
Our Best Global Music Performance winners, @wouterkellerman, @ZakesBantwiniSA & @Nomcebozikode, celebrate their win. 🎉
