SA film earns accolade in international festival

Durban-born director Anant Singh says its an honour for local films to be recognised on an international platform after South African film, Shepherds and Butchers walked away a prize winner at The Berlin Film festival.

Shepherds and Butchers was honoured with the third place Panorama Audience Award for Fiction Films, chosen from 51 competitors from 33 countries.
Directed by Oliver Schmitz and set in apartheid South Africa - the film explores true events surrounding a multiple execution.
Singh says it's all thanks to the talent within the cast and production team.
“We are overwhelmed by this acknowledgement for our homegrown South African film which competed with the best in the world.
It is a testament to the amazing talent we assembled for the film, and this enabled us to successfully compete in the international arena," he was quoted saying.
