'SA far from national blackout: Eskom'

Eskom chairperson, Jabu Mabuza says the country is far from a total electricity blackout.
Mabuza, along with Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and other senior Eskom managers, briefed the media on the country's electricity crisis yesterday.

"We have seen our maintenance budget. Six years ago, it was in the region of R40-billion. We have seen it go as low as half of that. Remember from July 2016 to July 2017, Eskom did no get any funding."
He believes load shedding is the result of a lack of maintenance and old infrastructure.
Mabuza says new plants also keep tripping.
