SA family hopes to visit convicted drug smuggler
Updated | By Newswatch
The Family of Deon Cornelius, the South African man who has been sentenced to death for trying to smuggle drugs into Malaysia says they are hoping to travel to that country soon to see him.

Deon Cornelius last week lost his appeal to have his death sentence overturned.
He was sentenced in January after being caught in 2013. Family spokesperson Gert Cornelius says they are heartbroken.
" His mother is very devastated because she expected him to come home and the whole family is behind", he said.
"We are dealing with DIRCO (Department of International Relations and Cooperation) for them to get us some visitation rights to see him", Cornelius said.
"So we are still waiting for a response from them to say when we can go to Malaysia to visit him", he said.
