The airline received notice to suspend its certificate on Friday night.

The CAA says recent inspections and audits had revealed deficiencies relating to the operator’s safety monitoring systems.

CAA spokesperson, Simon Segwabe says SA Express has since come up with a corrective action plan and has been very cooperative.

"We reviewed the final submission that they made to us and we were comfortable with the corrective action plan adopted by the organisation whereby it gave us comfort to say the issues that we had raised - they are closed. They have also demonstrated improvement on their system. And [the] CAA, out of that, have embarked to uplift the suspension of SA Express [aircraft]," he said.

Flights began taking off at 7pm last night.

In a statement last night, CEO Inati Ntshanga said it was regrettable that discrepancies in the submission of procedural paperwork and submission processes between SA Express and SACAA did not correspond.
