The Department of International Relations has donated R8-million to the victims of the recent flooding and mudslides in Sierra Leone.
The Minister of International Relations Maite Nkoano Mashabane says the money has been donated through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
"The contribution is for the provision of material for temporary shelter, medical supply and food aid," says Mashabane.

Mashabane also pleaded with South Africans to make contributions.
"Accordingly, we would like to take this opportunity to appeal to the South African people in their personal capacity to join the efforts in assisting the people of Sierra Leone."
Over 600 people died in Sierra Leone after heavy rains hit the capital Freetown last week, triggering the partial collapse of a hillside that engulfed homes and caused massive destruction across the coastal capital.
