SA COVID-19 tally climbs to 1 524 174 confirmed cases

The Western Cape has the most active causes at 5 254, followed by the Free State with 4 579.

As of Wednesday evening, South Africa had registered a cumulative total of 1 524 174 Covid-19 cases in the country.

 

In his daily update to the public on the pandemic, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said the cumulative total of tests conducted to date is 9 336 101 with 36 217 new tests recorded since the last report.

 

The Western Cape has the most active causes at 5 254, followed by the Free State with 4 579.

According to Mkhize,  a further 109 Covid-19 related deaths were been reported, bringing the total to 51 015 deaths.

 

The recovery rate is standing at 94,8%. 


So far,  128 887  health care workers have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
