SA Covid-19 death toll surpasses 102k mark

The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) has confirmed a further 56 deaths from Covid-19 in the last seven days.
This brings the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 to 102 066.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases identified in the country is 4 008 697.
A further 253 new cases were identified during the past seven days.
From 30 July, the cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 897 607 with a recovery rate of 97,3%.
To date, 6.4 million people have died from Covid-19-related illnesses worldwide, with 598 million positive cases recorded.
