SA AIDS conference to get underway in Durban

Ending the HIV
epidemic once and for all. That's the theme for the 11th South African AIDS
Conference, which gets underway in Durban on Tuesday.
People living with HIV will join a host of individuals, including scientists, civil society groups and government leaders, to discuss solutions to end the epidemic.
Minister of Health, Joe Phaala will deliver the opening address on behalf of Deputy President Paul Mashatlile who is the chairperson of the SA National AIDS Council.
Health spokesperson Foster Mohale says over the next four days the HIV community will review the progress made toward HIV/AIDS and TB epidemic control in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and other global health threats.

"The conference will deliberate on the next steps towards the AIDS-free generation 23rd and also on immediate priorities as South Africa forges ahead with strategies to eliminate HIV as a public health threat."
This year’s four-day conference will be held under the theme ‘Act, Connect and End the Epidemic’.
