Robbers killed in dramatic high-speed chase on N2

Three suspected robbers have been killed after a high-speed chase and shootout with private security on the N2, north of Durban.

Three others were critically wounded near King Shaka International on Wednesday morning.
Reports from the scene are that the armed gang had fled the scene of a crime in Empangeni in two getaway vehicles.
Security teams chased them down on the N2 northbound between the Tongaat Toll Plaza and the off-ramp to the airport.
Paul Herbst, from Medi Response paramedics, who treated the critically wounded suspects.

"The getaway vehicles were intercepted by a private security company and a chase and shootout ensued.
In vicinity of Tongaat plaza, three suspects sustained gunshot wounds and ended their bid to flee, whilst the second getaway vehicle managed to escape and continue down the highway.
"In proximity to King Shaka airport, three more suspects, in the second getaway vehicle, sustained fatal gunshot wounds during an exchange."
