Robbers flee after botched attempted robbery

Umbilo police are investigating an armed robbery - after a man was held up outside a bank in Durban's Davenport area, earlier today.
The 25-year-old victim was on his way to the bank - when he was approached by two men who demanded that he give them his bag.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the man dropped the bag, and ran for safety.
"Luckily there was nothing in the bag, but the suspects fled the scene after they fired a shot in the air. No arrests have been made at this stage, the suspects fled using their own getaway vehicle. No injuries were sustained," he said.
