Roads in Ladysmith CBD waterlogged amid persistent rain
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Several roads in the Ladysmith city centre are waterlogged following Sunday night’s heavy downpours in the KZN Midlands.

The Alfred Duma Local Municipality says they've been forced to relocate the local taxi rank as flooded roads turned its regular spot into a no-go zone.
The town says Lyell Street remains waterlogged, although vehicles are able to drive through the high-water levels.
Mayor Zama Sibisi says the town is flood-prone as it is located below a riverbank.
"We fixed the valve in order not to allow water to flow from the river to the town. So now when the valve is closing the water is unable to get into the river up until the river subsides then our drainage system is able to take water from the town. Other streets are working well."

Sibisi has also urged locals to be cautious since further heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms are expected during the week.
"We are urging our people; we are appealing to our residents to be more cautious, more especially when they are crossing the rivers that are flowing because that’s where the main danger is.
"We also urge our people to look after children and refrain from crossing rivers with unusual water levels."
