Road closures for Tsogo Sun Amashova 2018
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Durban is preparing for this weekend's big cycling event. Thousands of people expected to take part in the 2018 edition of the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic.
"We have a lot of people doing late entries at the moment. We've even had notices from our friends at airports saying there are people with bicycles coming in," said race organiser, Melissa Felt.
Felt says they have received entries from around the world for Sunday's race.
More than 10 000 cyclists have entered to participate in the various race categories between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
They will be able to compete in the 35, 65 or 106-kilometre routes, crossing the finish line at Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World on the Durban beachfront.
Meanwhile, Durban Metro Police say people out and about tomorrow need to know that some road closures ahead of the race will take effect from the evening.

Meanwhile, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal expects the province's economy to receive a nearly R100-million cash injection due to the cycling event.
Officials say the participants, as well as their friends and families, will give accommodation venues, restaurants and local businesses a boost over a weekend between peak holiday periods.
