River contamination affects Gingindlovu water supply
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
King Cetshwayo District Municipality says it's working on getting clean, drinking water to its residents again. This after a second contamination at the Gingindlovu water purification plant in the space of a week.
Spokesperson Vusi Mahaye says discharges, from a private sugar mill, polluted the Amatigulu River which the main water source for residents there.
He says they have asked residents not to drink the water and deployed tankers to communities.
Mahaye says the quickest solution is to get a new line installed from the current abstraction point to the upstream source.
They're relying on funds to start the process.
