Rise in attacks on EMS personnel 'concerning'
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Portfolio Committee on Health says it is working on finding solutions to the rising number of attacks on EMS personnel.

In a statement after meeting the SA Emergency Personnel Union, the committee said the safety and security of staff members is a major concern. In the June, four cases were reported - mostly in KZN and Gauteng.
In most cases, emergency staff are called into dangerous areas under the false pretence that there is a crisis, only to find out its was a fake call.
Chairperson Sibongiseni Dlomo says they plan to present solutions to the Health Minister.
"Some possible solutions we are looking into include fitting the vehicles with tracking devices and panic buttons", he said.
"We do not want a situation where our vehicles are taken and go across the border because as it is we do not have enough ambulances", Dhlomo said.
