Revoking Clover's Halaal certification taken ‘due to Israel links’
Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
The Muslim Judicial Council Halaal Trust has reiterated its position not to certify any goods that are products of Israel or linked to Israel.
It revoked Clover's Halaal certification in January.
The food and beverage group was acquired by dairy company Milco SA five years ago.
Milco SA is a subsidiary of Israeli beverage firm Central Bottling Company.

The Halaal Trust's Chief Operations Officer, Moulana Zakariyah Philander, says Clover stock already bearing the Halaal logo will run out by August.
"This was because of the situation that is happening currently in Israel, in Palestine and the injustices that are happening there and obviously the war and the possible genocide that is unfolding.
“And so, we took a policy decision that we will not be certifying any goods originating from that path or any company from that region."
