Restaurants prepare to serve court challenge over ban
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
The Restaurant Association of South Africa is preparing to take government to court over its decision to ban the sale of alcohol.

The association will be filling papers on Tuesday at the Johannesburg High Court. RASA CEO, Wendy Alberts, says the industry wants to negotiate a viable solution with government and strike a balance between saving lives and livelihoods.
She says restaurants make profits through the sale of alcohol and currently restaurants are a ghost town.
This as late last month President Cyril Ramaphosa banned the sale of alcohol under the current restrictions.
"We will be presenting our cases on Tuesday in collaboration with stakeholders supporting our industry", she said.
"Many restaurants are closing with people losing their jobs and we need some kind of rebates from govenrment and relief from banks and landlords or insurance so we need the ban to be lifted", Alberts said.
