Restaurants plead with president to ease restrictions
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
The South African Restaurant Association is calling on president Cyril Ramaphosa to allow them to open for dinner time as well as lift the alcohol ban.

Ahead of Ramaphosa's national address on Sunday evening, the association says it has proven at the lower levels that it can adhere to regulations.
This after the president reopened operations for restaurants two weeks ago with regulations forcing restaurants to close at 8pm.
RASA CEO, Wendy Alberts says the industry is hoping that government has heard its plea.
"After months of devastation within the industry we have outlined what a complex and fragile business model we have. We always play our part diligently with government by ensuring the utmost respect, compliance and cooperation.
"When the the (Covid-19) numbers start going down it is imperative we have open lines of communication and proper consultation and allow businesses to return to as much of a normal state as possible to be able to financially secure ourselves moving forward."
