Resignation of eThekwini investigator must serve as warning - city
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The eThekwini Municipality says corruption is its number one enemy and has no place in the municipality.

This comes after the immediate resignation of an investigator in the municipality's City Integrity and Investigations Unit after he was suspected of being an accomplice in extortion.
Last week, another suspect was arrested on the South Coast during a police sting operation where he was alleged to have accepted a bribe from a businessman.

City spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda vowed to deal with corrupt elements within its ranks.
"We can confirm that indeed we have parted ways with one of our investigators who was with the CIIU.
"This must send a clear message to all our employees that they must conduct themselves ethically or risk facing the full might of the law. We are therefore appealing to all our residents and stakeholders to report fraud and corruption."
