Residents of storm-battered uMdloti take to the streets
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A group of residents in the storm-battered town of uMdloti are protesting over a number of issues they claim to have left their community vulnerable to natural disasters.
The weekend’s storms in KwaZulu-Natal caused significant damage to several housing developments.
Angry and frustrated locals came out in their numbers on Wednesday, saying they've been raising concerns about a construction company which is undertaking a massive project to build accommodation and other facilities.

The residents claim a large amount of soil has been moved around, which has severely affected the nation lay-out of land.
They say when the floods hit a large amount of earth was shifted and clogged roads and sewerage systems creating a direct channel for heavy bodies of water to be directed to the lower areas of Surfside.
