Residents share sightings of MT Phoenix

KZN residents have taken to social media to share their memories of the grounding of vessel MT Phoenix off the KZN north coast, six years ago.

On 26 July 2011, the tanker was heading for India when it ran unto the rocks at Sheffield Beach, on the Dolphin Coast.
Fifteen crewmen were rescued off the vessel. In September that year, it was refloated and sunk kilometres off Amanzimtoti.
ECR Newswatch marked the sixth anniversary by remembering the events of the day.
While KZN residents - who witnessed the rescue of 15 crew members - took to social media to share memories from the day. See those below.
