Residents of Pinetown, New Germany and Westville without water
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Umgeni Water has confirmed that they are currently unable to pump water to Pinetown, New Germany and some parts of Westville.

Spokesperson Shami Harichunder says they are currently experiencing a problem at the Durban Heights Water Treatment plant stemming from a valve in a water pump.
He says their officials are currently working to correct the matter.
Residents and businesses have been without water since Thursday evening.

"The valve is in a jammed position. The pump station pumps drinking water to the Mount Moriah reservoir and this reservoir supplies Pinetown and New Germany,” says Harichunder.
“Now we are unable to bump water from Durban Heights Water Works because of the problem we are presently encountering."
Harichunder says officials are hard at work to get the pump up and running again.
