Reservoir collapse: eThekwini striking workers suspected
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
eThekwini says it cannot rule out illegal industrial action by its workers when it comes to the collapse of one of its reservoirs yesterday.
The city says the collapse of the reservoir - situated in Mobeni, south of Durban - has resulted in the loss of water and affected supply to more than a dozen areas. Officials have called for intensive investigation.
eThekwini spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says those behind the incident must be brought to book.
"We are very concerned about this illicit behaviour. We are, therefore, calling upon our law enforcement agencies to respond speedily and make arrests", he said.
"We do suspect it is linked to the industrial action we are currently experiencing. So we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and assist", Mayisela said.
