Rescue teams vow not to give up search for missing people
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Rescue personnel who travelled from Newcastle to assist in Durban's flood-recovery operations say they won't give up on the search for the dozens of people still missing.
Madelein Holloway, who's stationed at Newcastle SAPS, came to Durban with her husband, who is also a police officer, when heavy rains triggered last month's deadly floods and landslides.
"There are still so many people who haven't been found. You always think 'Can I do more, did I do enough?' You always want to put that extra in to get closure for yourself and for the family."
The couple's been working from Virginia Airport, where emergency operations in response to the disaster are based.

Some 63 people haven't been found yet.
Holloway says they've left their three children in the care of their family.
"My mother-in-law and father-in-law have been taking care of them while we work here.
"We are in the comfort of knowing that our children are at lest safe and that gives us the opportunity to focus more on how we can assist outside."
