Two maidens to be laid to rest today
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The families of two of the maidens killed in a horror taxi crash near Pomeroy in the KZN Midlands will pay their last respects to their loved ones today.

Six people – including the taxi driver and his friend – were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed and burst into flames a week ago. The maidens had been returning from Reed Dance rehearsals. 18-year-old Sithabile Buthelezi and Nonjabulo Dludla will be laid to rest today. 16-year-old Thembeka Myeza and 15-year-old Asanda Buthelezi were burnt beyond recognition.
Their families are still waiting for the results of DNA testing.
MEC for Arts and Culture Hlengiwe Mavimbela will attend both funerals. Spokesperson Phathisa Mfuyo says officials have met the families.
"Sitting there with parents who had just got the news of their daughters' passing was quite a saddening situation and a difficult moment of holding back tears as the news had come in about what had happened to their little girls", she said.
