Reiger Park residents take to the streets
Residents of Reiger Park, on the East Rand, took to the streets on Thursday morning, burning tyres and threatening to burn down a local councilor's house.
In response, police fired rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
"They went to the councilors house, wanting to burn it but luckily police stepped in," police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says.
He adds that the protest started around 2am on Thursday morning and that various roads in the area have been blocked off with burning tyres and rocks.

"Roads inside Reiger Park are closed. I can't confirm how many residents are taking park in the protest but what we know is that they are unhappy about the lack of services in the area," Dlamini says.
Police are monitoring the situation and according to Dlamini there have been no arrests or injuries reported.
"The situation is under control," he says.
