Reed Dance 'upholds tradition'
Updated | By Portia Cele
A truck transporting maidens and a car crashed between Swaziland's two main cities - Mbabane and Manzini on Friday.
Jabulani Mnguni lost his daughters, Nondumiso and Noxolo, two years ago when their bus crashed near Melmoth.
Seven other maidens and two of their minders were also killed. Mnguni says he and his wife attend the ceremony every year in memory of their children.
Mnguni says there should be continued support for the festival.
"It's not the Reed Dance that kills people because Reed Dances have been around for years and so has death. Reed Dances are about upholding tradition - keeping yourself for marriage and leading to a longer life free of illnesses," he said.
