RCL FOODS says Free State factory products listeria-free
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
The company that owns Rainbow says no trace of the listeria strain - that's killed more than 180 people in the country - has been found at its factory in the Free State.
RCL FOODS released a statement this morning confirming this.
The consumer brands giant says it's been going over the results of tests conducted by a lab in France - that's said to be a leading expert in this field.
And those results have confirmed that its Wolwehoek plant is clear of the ST6 strain.

Rainbow polony products from that factory were recalled as a precautionary measure.
The plant was also temporarily closed after the Health Minister said that listeria had been traced to the facility.
He had stopped short of confirming though this saying more tests need to be done.
The outbreak, traced to Enterprise's Polokwane facility, has made more than 900 people sick.
