Ray Nkonyeni Municipality still without a mayor
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A few months after the local government elections and the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality in Ugu has yet to elect a mayor.

The municipality has been plagued by internal squabbles.
This as residents in parts of the south coast have been left angry and frustrated by ongoing water outages, which sometimes go unresolved for weeks.
There've now been calls for the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to intervene and possibly dissolve the council.
The department’s KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila says the department is frantically trying to resolve the matter.
"The department is aware of the challenges that are currently facing the Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality and continues to intervene in that matter.
"The department is in contact on a daily basis with the municipality in terms of providing support to it and trying to find a speedy resolution to some of the challenges that are faced by the municipality."
