Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The eThekwini Ratepayers Association has given the mayor 14 days to respond to their memorandum of demands.
The association is unhappy with what it believes to be a failure by the city to deliver basic services.
Members marched to Durban City Hall on Monday, where they were received by Council Speaker Thabani Nyawose.

Their demands include reducing the proposed municipal tariff hikes and proper housing for informal settlers.
"The speaker came out and spoke to us, we handed him the memorandum and spoke to the association and we assured them that within 14 days, you will call my delegation regarding the mandate and a way forward and if they do not respond, we have a lot of legal that are behind us who are prepared to help us take the municipality to court," says the association's chairperson Ish Prahladh.
