Rape charge added to Wybank man facing four counts of murder

The Wyebank man accused of killing his four children, now has a fifth count, joined to his murder charges. He made a brief appearance in the Pinetown Magistrates Court amid a packed gallery as tensions ran high inside on Wednesday.
In the accused's previous appearance, an additional charge was added for the alleged rape of a woman, a week before the murders took place.
Last month, the 44-year-old man was arrested for hanging his four children, four-year-old Kuhlekonke, six-year-old Khwezi and 10-year-old Sphesihle Mpungose and 16-year-old Ayakha Jiyane.
The case was remanded for further investigation, he will remain in custody until the November 4.
The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Natasha Kara said: "The charge of rape that the accused was facing was joined to the murder charges, so the accused now faces one count of rape and four counts of murder".
