President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Constitutional Court judgment granting parole to Chris Hani's killer Janusz Waluś is extremely disappointing.

Ramaphosa was speaking at a press briefing in London on Thursday afternoon after wrapping up his two-day visit to the UK.


He says the SACP leader was an iconic figure in the country's struggle.

"Chris Hani's death was part of was spawned the democracy that we have and it is unfortunate, but I haven't looked at the judgment closely myself. 


"I would like to do so and to see the reasoning and one cannot but feel the pain that the family and his widow Limpho Hani is going through." 


Ramaphosa was also asked if he was worried the potential re-imprisonment of Jacob Zuma could lead to another round of unrest.

The Supreme Court of Appeal on Monday ruled that the former president should return to prison as he was placed on medical parole unlawfully.


It's ordered the current prison's boss to determine how much more of his sentence he should serve.


"I do not believe that we should see any unrest through this because there are other processes that will ensue. The period of that whole sentence, in my view, as I have heard, seems to have already run out. So the court has made its decision in this regard."
