ANC president Cyril
Ramaphosa says load shedding features on the party’s priority list as one of
the most pressing challenges.
Eskom reintroduced stage 4 of the power cuts on Sunday night, saying there've been four more unit breakdowns.
Ramaphosa called the crisis a threat to food security and businesses when he addressed the party's national executive committee lekgotla in Joburg on Sunday.
“The electricity crisis continues to undermine economic growth as well as investment. Blackouts damage businesses, and also affect the safety and well-being of our people, especially women and young girls.”

ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula spoke to the media on the sidelines of the meeting and told them that the goal is to end load shedding this year.
"Our goal is to end load shedding and that means reducing the stages. But the strategic goal is to end load shedding by the end of the year or even before that, given the packages we seek to implement to end this crisis. We are going to give the government a clear mandate of what to do."
