Ramaphosa could use SONA to announce measures against construction mafias
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Sihle Zikalala says the president is likely to announce more interventions to deal with construction mafias when he delivers his State of the Nation Address on Thursday evening.

Zikalala says his department has been working with law enforcement to stop those sabotaging government infrastructure projects.
The construction mafias have been targeting infrastructure development, business entities and construction sides by extorting money from contractors.

"We are tightening government intervention, but the approach is two-fold. Firstly, we are separating people who have a genuine interest in participating in business and supporting those through our facilitation program.
"But those who harbour criminal intentions, we will deal with them through the police; that is why the president has deployed soldiers to support police."
