Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
With South Africa in the throes of another round of
intensified power cuts - the word overseas is that President Cyril Ramaphosa
will cut short his international working trip to return home.
Eskom ramped up load shedding to stage 6 on Sunday after more generating units tripped at the Kusile and Kriel power stations.
The utility's CEO Andre de Ruyter said during a media briefing that Eskom is doing its best to avoid a total collapse of the power system.
The SABC's reporting that Ramaphosa won't complete the second leg of his US trip.
After Queen Elizabeth's funeral, he'll fly back home to deal with the Eskom crisis. Meanwhile, energy expert Ted Blom's called for a shake-up in management at Eskom.

He says CEO André de Ruyter's failed to fulfil his promise to fix Eskom within 18 months.
“Whether he made that commitment out of ignorance or arrogance, I don't care anymore. Most South Africans are with me now in that we are saying enough is enough. Eskom has destroyed our economy, our lives and future.
“And we sitting with all this debt and fi the government doesn't do it the people need to start taking action.”
