Ramaphosa sends condolences to disaster-hit Libya, Morocco

The Presidency says it is deeply saddened by the tragic disasters that have claimed the lives of thousands of people in Libya and Morocco.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the country deeply sympathises with them.
The death toll in Libya's eastern city of Derna has climbed to at least 6,000 after a storm unleashed devastating flash floods.
Many are still missing after two dams burst, sweeping away buildings.
Ahmed Bayram, who is the Middle East Media Adviser for the Norwegian Refugee Committee, says the city is a disaster zone.
"I think the only issue now is whether the infrastructure can help us, the roads can help us because the collapse of the two dams has worsened and has completely cut off this town, and now excess is even harder. So it is more of a matter of road arrangements and route arrangements. And I hope we can see progress on that front in the next 24 hours."
Morocco's earthquake that struck Marrakesh and the regions to its south on Friday claimed the lives of more than 2,900 people.
