Ramaphosa knowingly misled Parliament: Public Protector
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Public Protector says President Cyril Ramaphosa misled Parliament about the half-a-million rand donation his ANC presidential campaign received from Bosasa boss, Gavin Watson.
Busisiwe Mkhwebane has released the report of her investigation - which was prompted by a complaint laid by DA leader - Mmusi Maimane.
When Maimane asked Ramaphosa about the R500 000 payment in Parliament last year - Ramaphosa initially said it had been paid out to his son - Andile.
He told parliament that Andile Ramaphosa ran a financial consultancy - and that Bosasa had been one of his clients.
But The president came back to Parliament - saying he'd since found out the money was for his presidential campaign but that he hadn't been aware of this.
Mkhwebane says the president should have taken the time to investigate - before giving his response to Parliament.
