Ramaphosa: Increase in cabinet ‘is short-term’
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says the recent increase in his cabinet is part of a short-term plan.

Ramaphosa's ANC election campaign kicked off in KwaDukuza, on the north coast on Saturday.
He has been engaging with voters on his two-day visit in KZN.
Ramaphosa said he is going to be reconfiguring government to bring the number of ministers down.
"I've already given indications as to the direction we're going. For instance, the Ministry of Public Enterprises is going to end because there are various entities that are housed in that ministry that will reverse back to their departments as decided by conference of the ANC but which is also very much in line with my own broad planning of how government should be structured."
Ramaphosa said right now, more hands are needed.
"My objective is to reduce the executive even much further down. Right now as I explained in Parliament, we are dealing with an existential challenge. Load shedding is a major problem to me and is also major problem to the people of South Africa. I've wanted greater focus and a minister who is focused on making sure that we get rid of load shedding and do nothing else but just that."
