"I had a discussion with the minister. I am dealing with this matter. Let us allow this process to unfold and thereafter we will know what needs to be done," Ramaphosa told MPs during the Presidency’s Budget Vote on Wednesday.

A forensic probe has found the R150 million contract given to KZN-based Digital Vibes to have been irregular, while the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has launched its own investigation.

The probe also found inflated amounts were invoiced for communication services rendered when the coronavirus pandemic hit the country.

Digital Vibes is understood to be run by Mkhize's former personal assistant and his former personal spokesperson.

Calls have been growing for the minister to step down, although he has denied personally benefiting from the contracts.

"These are serious and disturbing allegations and it is therefore essential that they be thoroughly investigated by the SIU and any other appropriate authority, that these investigations be finalised without delay, and that the due legal process is followed."
