It dropped the documents off at the Union Buildings on Friday.

A series of reports by News24 claim Mashatile has had corrupt relationships with businesspeople who have benefitted from state tenders.

DA leader John Steenhuisen says they will lay criminal charges, and approach Parliament to open an ethics probe.

He believes corruption under Ramaphosa is worse than it was under his predecessor Jacob Zuma.

"We have not provided the president with the information that he need to remove deputy president Paul Mashatile.

“South Africa cannot be expected to be presided over by a deputy president who is facing such damaging allegation.

"We will lodge a complaint with the public protector calling for a full investigation into these. In all our submissions to law enforcement agencies we are going to make it clear that we have brought all of these to the president's attention."

The presidency says the laying of criminal charges against leaders, should not be politically motivated.

It was responding to the DA's docket submission at the Union Buildings yesterday, accusing Deputy President Paul Mashatile of corruption.

Presidency spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, says any evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the Deputy President should be tested and verified by competent authorities.
