Ramaphosa calls for unity on Heritage weekend
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
President Cyril Ramaphosa says the July unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng has been a set-back for the country’s efforts to rebuild our Covid-19 ravaged economy.

Ramaphosa was speaking during a virtual Heritage Day event yesterday. He says the unrest and looting caused death and destruction, forced businesses to close down and left many more people unemployed.
The civil unrest left at least 300 people dead and caused damage to infrastructure and businesses running into the billions of rands.
Ramaphosa has called for unity among South Africans.
"As South Africans we are an honourable people, we respect others and their rights and we believe in the constitution", he said.
"We are not involved in crime and we report those who are. We do not engage in acts of corruption, especially as public servants who have been entrusted with the welfare of our citizens", Ramaphosa said.
